Shoppers Flagship Building
Pinpoint Engineering was hired to complete the engineering task of demolition, scaffolding, hoarding, shoring, and foundation alterations to accommodate a new building around a heritage wall at the intersection of Yonge and Charles in Toronto. This multiyear project was extremely complicated, due to the condition that the heritage wall facing Yonge Street and Charles Street had to remain standing and protected during the construction. To make matters more complicated, the City required the shoring, holding the heritage wall, be completed on the inside of the existing building. This required the selective removal of the interior structure, which was over 100 year old wood and masonry, while building a new steel shoring structure around them. The public was also required full sidewalk access on Yonge Street and Charles Street during this work.
